Kick It Up a Notch with an Acid-Wash

Victoria Beckham Acid-Washed Jeans

Victoria Beckham Acid-Washed Jeans

You got an old pair of jeans that you still fit into, but the wash or color of the denim keeps you from wearing them as much as you want? Or maybe you got an old denim jacket that just gathers dust in your closet, and you realized that if you added a little spunk to it, you might take that old thing out of retirement…Well if you wanna spark up your old denim and make it so flashy that you will want to wear them all day everyday, then get on the acid-washed denim kick! Acid-wash is very trendy right now and is a good way to make your apparel yours. I acid-washed two pairs of my denim shorts (one almost black denim pair and a medium blue jean pair). I also bleached an old pair of dark, dark jeans and an old Levi’s jean jacket that I found for $4 at a thrift store. I wanted to give them each a different look and a raw edge, and I was noticing what Rihanna and Kim Kardashian and all of the other Hollywood fashionistas were wearing, which was a stand out, rocker style with this acid look everywhere! I’ve seen splot-bleached leggings, 80's style bleached jean jackets, acid-washed jeans, dresses….This retro look is definitely back and on attack. I’m so not willing to spend an insane amount of money to get this effect, so I thought a DIY project would get the job done. After I finished this project, I knew a FYI blog was a must for sure because I am in LOOVE with all of my bleached garments now. They are DEFINITELY out of hiding!! Here’s a step-by-step process to achieve the look like Victoria Beck’s acid-washed dark denim jeans in this picture, but along with a million other optional methods for bleaching. The effects you can make with bleaching are endless. It's your masterpiece, so don't stop short and make it your own! Read more

Ring in Spring with Peep-Toe Boots

Spring fever is everywhere and with it comes the anticipation of all the hot new warm trends that will hit the stores.  The hottest got-to-have item in my spring wardrobe is definitely the super sexy and fun peep-toe boots. I will be racking up on as many different colors and styles as possible…and thankfully, designers have been so creative in crafting out these shoes this year that the selection is endless! Peep-toe boots can be worn with basically any form of outfit- casual, trendy, dressy, or classy.    The great thing about these boots is that it’s a good transition style from winter to spring. You know for the last month or so we’ve wanted to rock some new kicks, but it’s still just a little too cold to break out the sandals so this is the perfect solution! It's a boot, but it shows just enough toe that it completely changes the feel and direction of the shoe from warm and winter to sexy and spring! Peep-toe boots still have a classy vintage feel which is what the past few seasons, fashion-wise, have been all about. Plus it’s guaranteed that this boot trend is a great bargain because they can be worn in the fall just as easily as in the spring.    The length of the boot also determines what type of outfits will look best paired with them. With the ankle boot you can wear anything from skinny jeans, a fun dress, or even stylish shorts or leggings. You can move higher to boots that stop along the mid-calf which are such a hit these days if you are going for the rocker look with ripped jeans or an old school dress or romper. You can also sport the boots that stop at the knee (or the above-the-knee boots which were a huge winter hit). My personal opinion is that the above-the-knee boots should be kept with the winter wardrobe, but there may be some cute exceptions! If you are looking for a fun and fresh change to your look, then this is my suggestion for a great buy this season, so keep an eye out for online stores or boutiques to start carrying this new style in footwear for spring.

Invasion of the 80's

80's Rocker Sexy Chic - Patricia Field

80's Rocker Sexy Chic - Patricia Field

We all knew of the little theory that all styles come back around in a few decades, right? But we swore up and down that NO WAY will that ugly 80’s Rocker look- pleather, metallics, hot pink lips, and big hair- EVER come back. Well…were we wrong or what?? Admit it. If we are true fashionistas, then it’s true, we are all giving in to this rebirth of the 80’s era in some way or another. Whether it be the pleather (biker jackets, pants, leggings, skirts), maybe the embellishments (chains, studs, excessive zippers), or just the destroyed or acid washed denim. The 80’s was known as a time where it was “in” to stand out, “in” to be an outcast. Well it’s back. I personally find myself looking in my closet for the most edgy, creative, rocker- fierce garments I own and putting them together for an outfit that screams “Hardcore Vintage”. It’s great! I’m having fun with it- problem is…there aren’t too many websites that sell this true vintage feel. So, to make it a little easier on you, I put together a list of stores I've found online that I’m very fond of. Hope these help ya out on your search for fun rocker fashion! (I’ll add more sites as I discover them, so check back!)
